Summer Paddling Program

2019 Brattleboro Outing Club Paddling Program

BOC will host eleven (11) Paddle Trips during the period May to October, 2019. No reservations are necessary (except for the August camping trip); just show up, with your own boat or board, and related gear. Life jackets (PFDs) are required on all BOC outings.

No advance reservations are required; just show up, with your own boat/board, and related gear. The only exception to this is the camping trip in August; reservations are necessary, and a $10 non-refundable deposit will be required. Light, warm summer rain will not stop BOC trips; however, high winds, electrical storms or cold rain will. If in doubt, or for more information, contact: (802) 254-3666, or

The club does NOT provide boats or boards. Rentals are available locally through the Vermont Canoe Touring Center, Putney Rd, Brattleboro, VT (802) 257-5008 (discounts to BOC members/supporters); or the Green Mountain Flagship Co, Rt9, Wilmington, VT (802) 464-2975. Many of these paddle trips are described in more detail in the guidebook by Alex Wilson and John Hayes: “Quiet Water, NH & VT”, 3rd ED., published by the Appalachian Mountain Club. Detailed information regarding Connecticut River trips is found in “The CT River Boating Guide, Source to Sea”, 3rd ED., published by The Globe Pequot Press, for the CT River Conservancy, and the CT River Paddlers’ Trail Map, VT & NH, by The Wilderness Map Company, Franconia, NH. Also of help is the VT Nature Conservancy book “Places to Walk, Paddle and Explore in VT”, 50th Anniversary Edition, Montpelier, VT.
